This RV park is dirty. Needs to be updated.
This is not a resort. A good many of the residents are full time. The park is located in a pretty bad part of town (across the street from the police station) no where near the beach, water or anything for that matter. Checking in I felt like she couldn't get rid of us fast enough. Personally we were stuffed into a wedge space and had to drive up onto tree roots to keep my truck from getting hit. There were plenty of other spaces. This very low end!
This is a combination campground, park model home park. Waldron Road will beat you pretty good so be sure to drive slower than normal traffic. Roads are narrow so attention to wheel placement is necessary but not a huge issue. Our site was dirt/gravel/grass but fairly level. Utilities were well placed and the was just enough room for our 30 foot trailer and tow vehicle. Laundry room was great with large and regular size washers and dryers. Always clean with a half bath inside. There is a... Read More

The campground is well located for easy access to NAS Corpus Christie, Padre Island and about a 20 minute drive to downtown. There is a small doggy park but it is located right next to Waldron Rd which is busy. But, you can walk fido around the park and it is a good walk. Internet was pretty good as was their cable. There was an activity schedule by the week so there was always something going on. The office staff was great. They were always courteous and helpful. They also have discounted tickets to USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium, both a necessary visit.

We stayed 7 nights at Colonial Del Rey in our Class A RV. I consider this one of my favorite sites so far as we have travelled through Texas, so maybe I should have rated higher but I've reserving '5' for the park I haven't seen yet! What I loved: LOCATION! So close to Padre Island, and easy access with very little traffic. I loved that everything worked...the pool was clean, all the washer/dryer units worked, we had power/water/sewage/wifi the entire time. This may seem 'expected', but I've since... Read More

This may seem 'expected', but I've since learned that at other parks sometimes things DON'T work, and the price is the same. The landscaping was mature for shade, and the bird songs were the only noises we heard. The staff was friendly, and guided us to our site to make sure we were comfortable with the pull-through. The 'permanent' neighbors were also friendly. I appreciated that the pool was next to the laundry, so I could swim while waiting for the wash to complete. The sites are fairly close together, but enough for our 2 slides and tow dolly and vehicle.

Stayed 5 days in April 2017. Campground was clean and well maintained. Sites were concrete and level. Office staff was very helpful and friendly. Very quiet and peaceful , Would definitely would stay here again.
Some of the sites were a little tight but it worked out. A couple of some complaints but got it worked out, like putting a 37 foot trailer in a site good for a 40 ft with no place for the vehicle and the other, trees that could use a little more trimming.
This is a great park! The sites are level and easily accessible. The staff is friendly. There are tickets available for several attractions in the area. The location is close to South Padre and downtown Corpus Christi. Overall a perfect place to stay.
I honestly don't know how this park got the high rating from Good Sam. The park is run down and tired looking. The pool was green and closed down while we were there. We were told we could drive several miles to a sister park and use theirs. However, it didn't look much better! WiFi was a joke. Unless you stood outside your RV under the tower next to the restrooms, there was none. Roads are narrow with curves. Very difficult to maneuver around the curve with a large motor home on one... Thank you for your review. During the time of your stay, our pool was closed down due to the fact we were in the process of getting the pool renovated which was completed in August of 2016. During the time our pool was being renovated, we suggested to our guest that they may use the pool at our sister park which is located 2 miles away. The pool at our sister park was renovated a little over a year ago. The pool at Colonia del Rey was only closed for a small amount of time and we apologized for... Read More

During the time our pool was being renovated, we suggested to our guest that they may use the pool at our sister park which is located 2 miles away. The pool at our sister park was renovated a little over a year ago. The pool at Colonia del Rey was only closed for a small amount of time and we apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone staying with us during that time. Also, during the summer of 2016, Colonia del Rey installed new WIFI throughout the park which we continue to improve when we receive feedback from our guest. We recently added an additional WIFI access point(AP) to help get better coverage in a certain location in the park. The WIFI AP was added due to the feedback we received from our guest. Colonia del Rey has been established since 1973 and was designed for campers produced in that era however throughout the past several decades we have made numerous amounts of changes to help larger RV's maneuver in the park. We do ask some arriving guest with RV's or Motor homes that are pulling tow vehicles to remove the tow before we escort them to their site because the guest will park their vehicle in front of their RV. Colonia del Rey takes pride in making sure our park is well maintained and represents the rating we receive from Good Sam. The grass on the property is mowed and edged every week and our restrooms are cleaned daily and checked twice a day. Thank you again for your review.

Bathrooms were good. Park was dirty and needed updating. Pull through was mud and rock. Water, elect, and sewer connections available but in poor condition. Average RV spacing.
Thank you for your review. Our bathrooms are cleaned daily, 365 days a year. The owners and staff take pride in making sure Colonia del Rey looks clean at all times. We have a lawn care company that cuts the grass weekly and are always maintaining a clean RV park for our tenants and guests. We also keep up with our grass/ gravel pull through & regular sites and are continually adding gravel (caliche rock) to the sites to help prevent any mud on RV site. However, the city has received an unusual... Read More

Our service connections are always kept up to date and remain in good condition. Thank you again for your review.
