We were double pulling a UTV behind a 5th wheel, about 65 feet long including tow vehicle. When making reservations we always make sure we disclose this because a lot of places can't accomodate us. We were told this wouldn't be a problem that they are big rig friendly. Very friendly staff at check in and were escorted to site. Our escort was very professional and friendly. Curb was high enough that the back of our UTV trailer actually drug until it got leveled out. I'm sure its a very nice place, just not for big rigs and I really didn't appreciate having to jump curbs. Another side note. If you are approaching from the west be cautious, as our GPS took us through a subdivision, past a school (as they were letting out) and into the campground through a back way.

Under no circumstances should you stay more than one night here. We booked a full hookup pull-through site over a month in advance for a weeks stay. We were called on the day of our reservation and told we were being moved to a back-in site on the edge of the park since we were staying for a week as it would be "quieter". When we arrived we were ushered to the very back of the campground to the long term area about as far as possible from the dog run, laundry room and other amenities. When we complained,... Read More

This place is about half trailer park and half overnight stays. Staff was nice enough (aside from telling us we could leave if we didn't like it) park is old and sites are very close together. WIFI is spotty at best. Also park is not exactly in a great part of town. Would not stay here again. Don't understand how they ever got the rating that Good Sam gave them.

Large pull thru sites, semi-level, dirt and gravel. Not as nice as seen on website. Staff was nice and friendly but failed to call Big Texan restaurant limo service after scheduling us to be picked up at 5. We waited 25 min and had to call limo service ourselves and wait for 6pm pickup.

This was our 2nd stay at this RV park as we passed through Amarillo. Very happy here. Staff is very welcoming, friendly & helpful. Sites are very large and wide, easy in and easy out. We had 50 amp service and had no trouble (although we were only running one air conditioner). We love how wide open it is and the nice grassy dog play area was a welcome treat for our pups. There are full-timers here but there are no run down rigs. The facilities - lobby/store/lounge area are clean and welcoming,... Read More

First RV park we've EVER stayed at. We were driving our new RV from Alvarado, TX to Albuquerque, NM and stopped in Amarillo for the night. After 6 hours of my first RV trip, I was really ready to rest! We arrived a little after 7, so they had called me mid-afternoon to confirm we were coming and gave us instructions for after-hours checkin. We found our spot immediately (they had left us a map with our spot circled and arrows to guide us...low tech but simple). Settled in. Power was great.... Read More

We found our spot immediately (they had left us a map with our spot circled and arrows to guide us...low tech but simple). Settled in. Power was great. All other hook-ups a breeze. The next morning, we had a chance to look around. I doubt any RV parks are glorious to look at, but I appreciated that they had curved streets, so it didn't just look like row after row of RVs, but like a little neighborhood. Plenty of dumpsters around to get rid of trash. A nice "club house" with necessities as well as gift items. Friendly staff. The restrooms were a bit stark...but serviceable. The bar is now pretty high for RV parks of the future for us. (By the way, we had never eaten at The Big Texan even after years of driving past it. We decided to celebrate there. Call them and they will send a limo over to the RV park to transport you! That was fun, and frankly, since we didn't have a tow car...a big cost savings over Uber.)

Nice friendly staff but that cannot make up for the ageing of the facilities. Need some updating. I have stayed before because of the limo service to the Big Texan steak house. Take advantage of it.

The Big Texan RV Park in Amarillo says they have 50 amp service but as we found out all they have is a 50 amp receptical that can't support 50 amps. Their employee said this was through out the whole park. Also we were told not to run all 3 of our air conditioners because it can only handle two AC's at a time. The breaker kept tripping off when using 3 AC's. This most likely is due to the wire gage being too small to carry the amps needed to support 50 amps. Just be aware if you plan on using 3... Stayed one night while passing through. Super friendly folks greeting and checking in, which was nice. Right off I-40, so there is highway noise if that bothers you. Older park, and there are some central hookup sites, which means one tower is for 2 sites. So our neighbors and us were parked with our porches / doors facing each other. Since we were only passing through it was no big deal, if we would have been staying several days, that would have been a problem. Went swimming with kids, warm... Read More

Since we were only passing through it was no big deal, if we would have been staying several days, that would have been a problem. Went swimming with kids, warm pool and inside. Grounds were maintained, but not without patchy grass / dirt areas. Checked into taking the shuttle to the Big Texan steak house. It runs at the top of the hour, and you need to give them a half hours notice. Called the restaurant, and learned they don't take reservations, and there was an hour wait. Glad we didn't just go over. Overall, decent park depending on your expectations. It's an older park that could use a facelift. I almost gave a 3 star rating, but the staff was so accommodating and friendly, that they earned 4 stars.

Nice park BUT there is one negative. Campground is adjacent to a facility that has outdoor music venue. Music on Friday and Saturday didn't stop until after 10pm. Sleeping before the music stops is difficult. Campground otherwise is good. Very friendly staff. Class A 36ft. Plenty of room.

The park is a mix of long term residents and a section of sites for the short term RVers. Our site was pull through, gravel and just long enough for our rig and tow vehicle. The park is an easy on and off of I-40 and good for visiting the area or for an overnight stop. We did not check out the amenities, but can confirm that the wifi worked reasonably well. We would stay here again when in the area.

Convenient location, check in was easy, offered treats for our dog. Lead to our site. Used shuttle to the Big Texan. Great facilities. Am going to stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 Nights while visiting the RV Museum in Amarillo and the Canyons. The Park was accessible off the freeway once we got used to the one way frontage roads and the GPS didn't understand the one way frontage roads. We had a one night stay here. Easy in and out. Check in and staff were nice. Nice dog park. Restrooms were very clean. Gravel site mostly level and we did not unhook. We would stay here again.

Second time we've stayed here. Nice people. Roomy. Good sized dog park. Free transportation to their nearby Big Texan steakhouse restaurant (just down the road). We'll stay here again next time.

Registration was easy. Site was mostly level, though there was some freeway noise. We didn't have the right fitting for their sewer connection so I didn't use that. Lots of dumpsters. We took advantage of the free limo ride to the steakhouse and had a much better meal than expected. Easy on and off so would probably stay here again.

We stopped here because we had seen the "Big Texan" a few times on TV. :) The Staff at the park was very helpful and cheerful. The site was level and very easily accessible. The park is very clean and the pet area nice - and clean. The complimentary limo ride to & from the Big Texan was a nice surprise. (If you are not towing you can get anything on their menu eat in or "to-go" - another nice surprise) The wi-fi was good, the clubhouse nice. Access to the Interstate coming and going is easy.... A great place right off I-40 with no highway noise. The best wifi of any campground we have been to. Most short stays of less than a week were in very large pull through sites. All sites are gravel, water pressure was on the high side and our sewage connection was elevated 6 inches above ground which required walking the hose (always fun).

3 3 out of 5 stars 03/26/2017

This is okay for a short stay. Sites are crowded together and gravel, but fairly level. Decent wifi, clean showers with good water pressure, friendly and helpful staff. I did enjoy the hot tub and indoor pool. It's easy on-off for I-40.

Someone actually ate the 72oz steak while we were there. Very entertaining, my daughter still talks about they guy eating the whole meal to this day. Awesome steak and meal had by entire family too. Set up of park a little tight but we had no problems pulling our 40' 5th wheel through park. We just walked and mapped out the best route out of park so there would be no issues when leaving in morning. Easy on and off of interstate. Highly recommend, and would stop here again.

this facility is very run down and not up to Good Sam standards. Roads are full of holes, cable TV does not work, WiFi is in operable except in office, grounds are dusty and shows signs of decay. Office staff is barely friendly and not open to complaints. Would not recommend to any travelers.

Fine overnight stay. However, this is one of the most odd park layouts I've seen. The pull-thrus are back to back with an 'alley' like road between them. The problem is there are transformer boxes and vehicles parked in the alley so I don't understand how we were expected to 'pull thru' and exit. We arrived after the office was closed and before they opened, so in fairness to the park, we did not have the opportunity for instruction. If the campers in front of us had not moved in the morning I don't... Read More

Easy on/off from freeway and plenty of space to park and slide for the night.

We were very disappointed that there is no WIFI in the park nor is there cable hook up. The brochure shows both. We were not told this when we checked in and even got a WIFI password but you have to go to clubhouse to use it. The brochure shows 95 channels but again go to the clubhouse to use it.

I was here for 1night. While the common facilities looked nice, that is where the appeal ended. The site was just gravel and weeds. Side-by-side hooks put only about 3' between my unit and the next. I noted that they attempted to put 2 other travelers in the next site, but they objected to the close proximity before the 3rd took it. I was told that wifi was only available in the office building for overnight guests. I don't think I would stay here again.

Lovely campground, but not quite a 5. Spaces were good sizes; nice dog park and grounds were well kept. Bathrooms were clean but worn. Cable worked, Internet did not. Staff showed us to our site which was very helpful. We'd readily go back again!

Bathrooms had 3 showers, 3 toilets, and 2 sinks. There was an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna in excellent condition. Park was in excellent shape. Pull in sites gravel pads. Water, elect, and sewer connections excellent. Wide RV spacing. Nice laundry room. Cable and wifi available. Free donuts for breakfast. Staff was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable.
