After traveling the Alaska Highway we stopped twice - once before our visit to the Kenai peninsula and once after our Kenai time. We stayed in this RV park both times. After traveling the Alaska Highway we stopped twice - once before our visit to the Kenai peninsula and once after our Kenai time. We stayed in this RV park both times. We are a 37 foot fifth wheel and need a space that will accommodate us--which they had. The restrooms and laundry were secure with a code and were clean and well-kept. The park was pleasant and located within walking distance of downtown Anchorage with lots to do for visitors. During our first stay we left our grill outside and our propane tank and grill tools were stolen - when we reported it we learned that there was a theft problem at the park. We kept everything locked up during the second stay. We went to The Bridge restaurant where were had or first go at king crab legs. They were good and the view was good as well. We also watch folks fish at the bridge for salmon that were starting to come up the river there. It was fun to actually see the salmon swimming in the water and the anglers trying to catch them. We did a city tour and had a good narrator. It was the last tour of the day and we were worried that due to the number of folks that showed up, we would not be accommodated but we were. We were also there on a day that they had the farmers market, Very few actual produce items and lots of handmade Alaskan craft items. We actually bought our Ulu knives there for $20 less than what the Ulu factory was asking for by the same craftsman and similar design. We were also told by the city tour operator to have the fried halibut at the farmers market which we did and it was very good.

The park appears to be well maintained and the check in was easy and staff very friendly. Unfortunately it can not off-set the fact that trains pass by ever 3 to 4 hours day and night and with a train crossing at the entrance they sound their whistles 3 to 4 times prior to the crossing. Last night this was at 10:30, around 3AM in the morning and again about 5:30 AM. We've camped in sites where the train rumbles by or near a highway so are use to that. We stayed at the park for 3 days. The park is spotless and the managers keep the grounds very well maintained. The train is a bit loud when it rumbles by but we are in Alaska doing our trip of a life time and we didn't mind the train. The office staff is very nice and will organize any tours you want to go on. We would stay again!

The best thing about the park is that it is close to downtown Anchorage. That said there are many things to dislike. The location is not in a good area. Not only does the train track parallel the park, but the area is an industrial zone. I would not want to walk to or from the downtown area in the dark; many people were taking taxis. The best thing about the park is that it is close to downtown Anchorage. That said there are many things to dislike. The location is not in a good area. Not only does the train track parallel the park, but the area is an industrial zone. I would not want to walk to or from the downtown area in the dark; many people were taking taxis. The park itself suffers from overcrowding. The spaces are so small that we could not put out our awning due to the next RV being so close. Although there was a picnic table it was virtually unusable due to space constraint. The next pedestal was 2 feet from our front door making it inconvenient to enter and exit the trailer. Finally, the park is at the bottom of a cliff on the city side making TV difficult to receive and there is no cable. There is nothing for kids to do and no space devoted to play. The owners are diligent though. They were spreading stones on the main drive to preclude potholes from developing, mowing what little grass there is and keeping the central office/laundry/bathrooms clean. Overall, the Goods Sam rating is fair.
